Setting Goals

Back in March of this year, I began setting goals in my life. The first set was for my Avon business. I've sold for over five years, but never really considered it a business, so naturally I never accomplished anything with it. When I changed my mindset, set a few goals and reached for them, it made all the difference in the world.

The results of goal setting have been amazing—for both my business and personal growth. These accomplished goals have shown me what I am capable of (and this applies to everyone) I can do anything if I set my mind to it!

Since setting goals worked so well with my Avon business, I need to do the same for my writing career. So here we are, right smack dab in the middle of August! There’s plenty of time to set some goals for this month. In order to hold myself more accountable, I am going to list my writing goals right here for all of you to see!

• Educate myself - every day I will spend an hour of my time reading to
improve my craft. After a long break, I know I need to refresh my mind and
sharpen my skills.

• Search daily for jobs

• Contact former clients to let them know I am writing again (Thanks for this
one, Kathy!).

• Blog twice a week

• Work on writing website daily

• Acquire two paying jobs

So there we are. Now I have some goals to work toward. I will give you an update in September to let you know how I did! Wish me luck!

Have a blessed day!

Welcome back, Lisa! I'm glad to see that you've outlined your goals, giving you something tangible to reach for.

I like your Avon analogy -- when you decided to run it like a business, then you began to see some results. A little attention to anything can bring about some good things and I'm sure that you'll be writing again in no time.

Your former customers will be glad to know that you're back too. Best wishes as you reach for your goals.

Thanks so much, Matt! I'm really excited about getting into the writing life again! It will be interesting to see how things have changed during my absense. They are ever evolving on the World Wide Web, that's for sure!

Thank you again, and have an awesome day, Matt!

Welcome back, gal, so pleased to see you at work again. I am sure you'll find new jobs in no time. :) I bet you'll have lots of fun discovering how the web has changed in the past year and I am also hoping you will find that your true friends (like Matt and I) are glad to see you back and they definitely still remember your skills and who you are.

Thanks for the inspiration Lisa. Because I'm trying to jump back into freelancing part-time, it's been hard trying to figure out where to start, but I'm ready to start thinking! I'll be blogging about that this week, so check it out and see how I'm doing!

Julia,

I am happy to have inspired you to keep plugging away! The getting started part can be overwhelming...how and where to start seems unclear at times, but just jump in there and do it! You will be amazed where you end up!

Thank you for visiting my blog, and I will definitely be following your posts! We can cheer each other on!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my friends!
