16. It gives you better understanding of the world.
17. It shows you new worlds too.
18. You see how the impossible becomes possible...
19. You make new friends (the writers and their heroes)
Ah, Mihaela Lica, four excellent reasons to add to the list! Thank you!
Have a great night!
All great reasons, including Mig's additions. The top for me is #15 - I've loved to read for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, my mother used to say that when I was reading I was oblivious to everything around me, and I can still get lost in books today.
I love the feeling of getting lost in stories, finding new worlds. Reading is one of the greatest "inventions" ever! This was a great list!
Lillie and Julia, I think getting lost in stories is one of my favorite reasons to read, too! As number four on the list says, "It's a great escape."
Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

I loved this list so much, I just posted about it at my "Soaring Site."

It helps me recognize good writing.
It makes me laugh, cry, feel inspired, mad, want to visit the locale.
I don't watch television, so....
Nice blog.
May be to know how any writer have come to a particular point of view.
I would have to say #15 applies to me the most. Regardless of whether it improves your writing skills or educates, it is just something you either love or dislike.
